About
This site provides an overview of the workshop project commissioned by the European, Audivisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) on “VET teachers and trainers: Key actors to make lifelong learning a reality in Europe”. This project is organising a series of regional workshops intended to contribute to the identification of the roles of teachers and trainers in VET and to the development of further measures and strategies of intervention in the context of the EU’s agenda for lifelong learning.
The aim of the workshop project is to gather information on the training and practice of VET teachers and trainers in the Member States of the European Union and to consult with national stakeholders on outcomes of studies undertaken in the field and possible future developments. Concretely, the project will organise 6 workshops, each of which should bring together practitioners and experts from 3-6 different countries to address and discuss specific topics related to the training and practice of VET teachers and trainers. 50 per cent of each workshop (in terms of content and time) will focus on findings, conclusions and recommendations of so far conducted studies, while another 50 per cent will be dedicated to i) discuss major issues of concern that were being identified and specified in the background papers on particular topics and ii) address new topics and perspectives for the future. One major aim is to identify local/regional concepts and ideas and their meaning in the area of VET teachers and trainers.
The concrete objectives of the workshops are:
- To explore the national strategies and national contexts relevant for VET teachers and trainers and the training of trainers;
- To determine the impact that these strategies have on the training and practice of VET teachers and trainers;
- To identify other factors that influence the work and training of VET teachers and trainers;
- To discuss the key findings, conclusions and recommendations of reports initiated and supported by the European Commission and CEDEFOP and relevant European and national projects;
- To identify any additional issues or challenges not covered by these reports;
- To consider what directions and strategies might be appropriate in the area of VET teachers and trainers in the future, both at a national and European level.
